Vote for Kent in the November 5, 2024 general election!

  • I want to use my extensive background and abilities from 34 years of legal experience to serve my community as a Justice on the Court of Appeals, which I believe is the best position for me to have a positive impact. Justice should remain fair, accessible, and unwavering for all; therefore, I'm committed to upholding the fundamental principles of justice that form the bedrock of our legal system.

  • When one of the parties to a lawsuit or criminal case files an appeal, three of the four Justices on the Court of Appeals are assigned to the case. The panel reviews the trial court record, studies the legal briefs and precedents, hears the arguments of counsel, and determines whether the trial court committed any legal errors that justify granting a new trial.

The court then issues an opinion which becomes legal precedent. The losing party may seek further review at the Texas Supreme Court, or Court of Criminal Appeals, but those courts have discretion whether to review the case, so the Court of Appeals’ opinion is usually the final word on any given case.

Frequently Asked Questions…

I believe God created the family for a reason.

Pro Family

Marisa and I have been married for 38 wonderful years, and we have four amazing daughters, Melissa, Rebecca, Reagan and Courtney. In 1999, we all signed a Chambers Family Constitution, promising to do our best to uphold Biblical family values. We faced a lot of opposition from our adversary over the years, but the trials have only drawn us closer, developing character and perseverance along the way.

We now have four awesome sons-in-law, and ten brilliant grandchildren, all living in Montgomery County.

I grew up in a Christian home with three older brothers and a younger sister. My parents, Robert and Lois Chambers, are both native Texans, currently living in Lufkin. My dad is a retired Air Force intelligence officer, music minister and bridge teacher, and my mother is a retired realtor, seamstress and former Texas Federation of Republican Women board member.

Pro Life

Dobbs was a huge victory, but the battle is not over.

While we lived in Beaumont, I served on the board of directors for the Southeast Texas Hope Center for Crisis Pregnancy. For years, like many of you, I participated in pro-life marches, faithfully supported pro-life candidates, and prayed that Roe vs. Wade would be overturned.

In 1992, along with over 3000 lawyers across the country, I resigned from the American Bar Association when it adopted Resolution 106(c), falsely asserting that abortion was a Constitutional right. Thirty years later, the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization proved the ABA wrong, but the ABA still stubbornly clings to its abortion-on-demand agenda.

Pro Rule-of-Law

As a constitutional conservative, I firmly believe judges must faithfully adhere to the rule of law, rather than legislating from the bench.

Unfortunately, the rule of law is under attack. Some people apparently would be content to be ruled by an elite few, while others seem unwilling to be ruled at all. Then there are those who are actively trying to distort the law, especially the Constitution, to fit their political goals. If the rule of law is to remain a worthy and attainable American ideal, the Constitution must be defended from these attacks.

As an appellate justice my mission will always be to apply the written words of the law to the established facts of the case without political bias. As Justice Antonin Scalia stated, “Words do have a limited range of meaning, and no interpretation that goes beyond that range is permissible.”

Pro 2nd Amendment

Our foundational rights, which are bestowed on us by our Creator and guaranteed to us in the US Constitution, must be protected. These include freedom of religion, freedom of speech, the right to assemble, the right to petition the government, and the right to keep and bear arms.

Pro-Military & Law Enforcement

I grew up in a military household, and I believe that those who serve our country, and our local communities are deserving of the highest respect.
